Idaho does not give a per-dependent allowance for 2026: its $205 child tax credit applied only to tax years beginning before 1 January 2026 and sunset by its own terms (Idaho Code 63-3029L). Federal credits for dependents are not modelled here either.

Supuestos del cálculo
  • Estimated paycheck based on annualized tax liability, not employer payroll withholding.
  • Annual tax is divided across 26 pay periods.
  • This estimate uses tax year 2026.
  • Federal filing status: Single.
  • Federal income tax uses the IRS standard deduction of $16,100.00. Itemized deductions are not used.
  • Federal tax credits, capital gains, self-employment tax and AMT are not included. State exemption credits are included where this snapshot carries them.
  • What a dependent is worth depends entirely on the state, and in several it is worth nothing. The dependents field says so beneath itself when that is the case.
  • Employer benefits and pre-tax payroll deductions are not included.
  • This is an estimate, not a tax return or employer withholding notice.
  • Federal source: IRS Revenue Procedure for tax year 2026.
  • Idaho tax uses Idaho State Tax Commission rules. Schedule year 2025. State-specific credits and most subtractions are not modeled.
  • This state levies no local income tax on wages, so nothing is omitted on that account.

How Idaho taxes a paycheck

Idaho taxes wages at one flat rate, 5.3% of taxable income, whatever the salary.

A single filer subtracts a $15,750 standard deduction before the state rate applies.

The personal exemption for a single filer is $4,811.

Federal income tax uses the IRS 2026 brackets and standard deduction. Social Security is 6.2% of pay up to $184,500 a year and Medicare is 1.45%, plus 0.9% on wages over $200,000.

What the Idaho figure includes

  • The $205 child tax credit in Idaho Code 63-3029L applied to tax years beginning on or after 1 January 2018 and before 1 January 2026, so it does not apply to this tax year. The 2025 Parental Choice Tax Credit that followed it is for qualifying education expenses, not a per-dependent allowance, and is not modeled.
  • Idaho taxes Idaho taxable income at 5.3% of the amount over an indexed zero band (2025 Form 40 packet tax worksheet; I.C. 63-3024). Single and married filing separately: 5.3% of taxable income over $4,811. Married filing jointly, head of household and qualifying surviving spouse: 5.3% over $9,622. Those 2025 worksheet amounts are the inflation-adjusted thresholds for 2025. 2026 Form 40 was not published at verification, so this row is the 2025 schedule — the 2025 threshold is not forwarded as if it were 2026.
  • The standard deduction on the 2025 Form 40 worksheet is the 2025 federal amount: $15,750 single or married filing separately, $31,500 married filing jointly, $23,625 head of household. Those printed 2025 figures are stored here rather than reading the 2026 federal snapshot, which would mix years.
  • Idaho credits, the grocery credit, itemized-deduction addbacks and other Form 39R adjustments are not modeled. The starting point is gross wages.

Idaho paycheck questions

How much is taken out of a paycheck in Idaho?

On the Idaho median wage of $47,970 (BLS, May 2025), paid every two weeks, about $334.57 of a $1,845.00 paycheck goes to tax: $137.55 federal income tax, $141.14 Social Security and Medicare, and $55.87 Idaho income tax. That leaves $1,510.43.

This assumes a single filer with the standard deduction and no pre-tax deductions such as 401(k) or health premiums, which would lower both the tax and the check.

Does Idaho have a state income tax?

Yes. Idaho taxes wages at one flat rate, 5.3% of taxable income, whatever the salary. The rules come from Idaho State Tax Commission.

What is the Idaho income tax rate for 2026?

Flat 5.3% of taxable income, using the 2025 rate, the latest Idaho State Tax Commission had published when these figures were checked.

How much is $1,000 a week after taxes in Idaho?

About $813.38 a week, or $42,296 a year, for a single filer with the standard deduction in 2026. Federal income tax takes about $78.08 a week and Social Security and Medicare $76.50; Idaho income tax about $32.05.

Why is my real paycheck different from this estimate?

Employers withhold with the IRS percentage method and your W-4, not with an annual estimate split into pay periods. Pre-tax deductions such as a 401(k), health insurance or an HSA lower your taxable pay, and bonuses are often withheld at a flat supplemental rate. Over a full year the two should come close; a single check can differ.
